Created by artist Walter Heubach (1865-1923) and Biologist Otto Schmeil (1860-1943) between 1890-1920.

It is a stunning, large educational chart, one of a series by Schmeil and Heubach.
Printed using off set lithography, the colours are wonderful and bright even after all this time.It was published by Quelle & Meyer in Leipzig, Germany.

Beautifully illustrated it shows the white nettle in full and in some close up detail, there is a particularly lovely illustration of a bee pollinating the flower.
I have never had this series of charts before and can only find a handful botanical on reference sites, it is very rare to find charts in this series especially in this condition.

Size(approx)
Width (including poles):123 cm
Length: 137 cm
(without poles: 114 x 109 cm)

Printed on 2 pieces of paper joined at the back and covered with linen it has black wooden poles top and bottom.
This chart has spent most of its life rolled up in a school cupboard so the colours are still bright, this is in part due to the lithographic technique of printing, which allows for incredible depth of colour.
