About this item

Full of character, age, tactile and a real talking point this item is ready for your home. We have restored it (so hopefully it will still be around in anther 150 years!) and is clean fully lined, ready to store your blankets, linen and just about anything that you may not want on display.

Most likely from the 1800’s this would have been owned by the wealthy, they afforded domed trunks so their luggage would be top of the pile in the hold so not only was it first off the liner it wasn’t squashed either!

Made from metal, most likely tin with the look of aligator skin with a patina of greens and golds this is a stunning trunk. Bentwood banding adorns the domed top which has been briwaxed for protection. The metal strapping has been painted in gold and the hardware has been painted black. The original leather handles have been replaced with a vintage look brown leather. The initials of M.A.C. remain in tact on both ends.

Fabric wallpaper lines the interior from Phillip Jeffries in a beautiful green linen to compliment the exterior. The existing linings were removed so this piece is free of musty smells often associated with similar items and could be used to store clothes or linen.
