About this item
Vintage from the 1950s
Rare, Vintage, Mid-Century, 1948-1954 hood ornament for the Ford Vedette (export model for European market), with a stunning
streamlined design.
It also evokes a very modern, futuristic, "space-age", "atomic age" look, consistent with the mindset of the epoch in which the car was produced.
Car makers at this time, often found inspiration for design ideas from aeronautic shapes, or military aircraft and jets such as Lockheed Martin
and others,
It is a solid piece, made of aluminum and mounted on a wood base, with felt covering the under part, to protect surfaces.
There is a small, wood panel with a desk name holder on the side, which indicates the piece could have been use as a present or reward .
It can also be used as a business card or mail holder.
The piece is in very good, original condition, with a nice patina.
Light signs of usage and marks of time, commensurate with age.
