Eero Aarnio Cognac Chair

Thanks to innovative furniture designers such as Eero Aarnio, we've come a long way since the bachelor pad '60s and 70's decor, complete with tiger skins, purple lightning, and fluffy white rugs.

These days you can forget about what you saw in Hollywood classic movies and Playboy designs because today we're talking swanky digs, vivid colours, vintage accessories, and organic forms.

Bachelor vintage rescuers looking to modernise with a classic industrial design and a dose of pop art reds can't go wrong with Eero Aarnio originals.

Finnish designer Eero Aarnio paired modern brilliance with pop style when creating the ball chair. You may have never heard of it, but I bet you've seen it. Described as futuristic with no edges, this modern furniture design appeared in numerous famous movies.

His now iconic plastic creations include the chairs, Ball (1963), the Pastil (1968), and the Bubble (1968)

Whether it's a cozy style to return to, a corner spot to hang out with friends, or an icon piece to impress a new love interest, you'll find an inspiring mix of vintage charm right here.

About Eero AarnioIt's time to get inspired with retro-futurism! Ahead of his time, Finnish designer Eero Aarnio popped out our eyeballs with a series of chairs like something taken straight out of a sci-fi movie.

Combining modern interior charm with vintage seduction is no easy task when spicing up your decor.

To break away from the norm, a few iconic classics get this task right perfectly: the bubble chair, a tomato chair, a ball, and the pastil.

One of the greatest innovators of modern furniture design, Eero's collective 60s colourful palettes and rocking 70s elements help set a cool and sophisticated backdrop to today's trendy pads.

Awarded the American Industrial Design award in 1968, Aarnio's designs were essential to 1960s popular culture. His dynamic creations reflect an industrial style that balances sitting and sound ergonomics.

Refusing to follow the rules, he instead bent them. He installed a red phone into his ball chair of edgeless shapes and sound.

This space within a space design created an illusion of being unseen and secluded; he said, "solving a problem is always the most important thing". "I design functional everyday objects, and I want to get the most out of those objects."

Form and functionality have always been vital elements in Scandinavian design; however, Eero's style incorporates playfulness and poptastic hues into his innovative furniture.

Since Eero began experimenting with plastics, vivid colours, and organic forms in his Helsinki one-man-band studio, his inventions became ideal for sets in famous period science-fiction films.

The simple geometric forms made an appearance in Dazed and Confused (1993), the opening credits of The Prisoner TV series (1967-1968), Tommy (1975), and Mars Attacks! (1996). The iconic chair design has also been used in numerous magazine covers and television shows.

Many of Aarnio's works are also included in the world's most prestigious museums, including the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, MoMA in New York, and Vitra Design Museum in Weil am Rhein.

Are you a fan of these Eero Aarnio ball chairs as much as we are? Then, let Vinterior take your interior colour to a whole new level.
