Franciscus was the son of the painter Cornelis Norbertus Gysbrechts (painter of the court of king of Denmark, Christian V). His work gets closer to that of his father with its still lives("nature-morte") and its trunks the eye ("Trompe l'oeil").

His self-portrait is also present on the painting.
