About this item

One available and matching table, although it is possible to source more chairs upon request.

Robin Day was an iconic British industrial designer, best known for his injection-moulded polypropylene stacking chairs – more than 20 million of which have been manufactured – and his later collaboration with Habitat. He rose to prominence in 1951 when he came up with the seating for the Festival of Britain. The Hille furniture company was started in east London in 1906. In 1949 they recruited new design talent Robin Day, giving him carte blanche to revolutionise low cost furniture. The Hillestak chair was his first commission and an instant success. The seats and backs are veneered bent ply sitting on contrasting walnut frames.

One available with matching table. Available to view in store. The chair is currently undergoing restoration.
