About this item

This fantastic looking pair of mid-century armchairs were made in The Czech Republic sometime in the 1950s
They have the original material but the material has some bad stains on it which did not come out after cleaning, so if you are looking for a pair of chairs to put your own mark on and recover in your own fabric these would be ideal,
This pair of chairs would be ideal if you were looking for a pair to put your own mark on by recovering in your own choice of fabric, also the wood on the arms is in good condition but the polish is a little bit shit and warm here and there.
Jindrich Halabala was a professor of design and architecture in Prague and was a giant in European furniture design in the 1930s and 40s.
He strived to produce attractive looking furniture that was high quality and well made and he pioneered a technique and designed the machinery to bend large pieces of wood using steam and rollers. He was a designer rather than a manufacturer there were three or four companies which made these chairs across the Czech Republic.
This particular model is one of the most popular styles I buy, I can never find enough of them in this good condition to supply the demand.
They are a fantastic looking pair of chairs whichever angle you look at them from, the outstanding design feature of these chairs is the use of one single
a large piece of bentwood to make up the Long hope that makes up their arm.... this is the only design of chair that I can think of that does this with one single length of bentwood.
They have a sprung seat with 30 springs so they are very comfortable. The fabric is completely original and in ok condition, there is quite a bit of wear,
(please check all photographs)

As they are at the moment, the chairs are solid and strong there is no woodworm or repairs they are a perfect candidate to be recovered and restored. The material is the only real issue and a little bit of wear on the policy of the arms. The spring system is good the chairs are solid if you're looking for something to recover these are perfect.
