This item is antique. The date of manufacture has been declared as 1890. A crisply and intricately carved Victorian Coffer with silver plate handles. Ornately carved, as inscribed, by the Whiteinch Working Lads Carving Club and gifted to Mrs JF Gemnell on the 28th April 1893. This super Scottish piece is in high Victorian Gothic Revival style and made from dark walnut. The carving on the lid is lighter in relief and is aesthetic in taste with thistles, flowers accompanied by a bird in flight and fish. Condition is very good with some antique wear to the lid. There is no key but a remarkable one off piece.
