About this item
Unique coffee table that shows resemblance of items by several designers such as Gerrit Rietveld Jr, Janni van Pelt, Bueno de Mesquita and the British designer Robin Day.
The production level is high, this can be seen if we look at where the end of the legs touch the ground. They are cut sideways so that they stand flat on the floor, a cheaper solution would be to simply put on a cap. Also the upper metal rim shows quality, we can not find any trace of a spot where it was connected. We know for sure it is from the 50s a so called ‘meubelplaat’ was used, which translates to ‘furniture plaque’, in the Netherlands these were use in the 50s instead of regular wood. This part has been restored and has new paint. the glass plate is the original one which we can see if we look at the two holes on the upper side, on these holes the glass would hang to ‘dry’. The frame shows some sign of wear, we like to see some age in an item but of course it can be totally repainted on request.
