Description
This rare and precious Aurora table lamp, designed by Luciano Frigerio in the 1970s, is a true expression of his unmistakable style, blending sculptural art and functionality. Crafted entirely of brass, it features a solid circular base and a cylindrical shaft obtained through lost-wax casting, a technique that lends the surface a rich, textured appearance, composed of irregular reliefs and indentations. This process, typical of Frigerio's most refined production, creates a sophisticated interplay of light and shadow that enhances the warm, iridescent reflections of the brass.
As with all of Luciano Frigerio's cast creations, this model was produced in a limited edition, making it extremely rare and sought-after today: very few examples of this lamp exist. The piece retains a timeless appeal and represents a perfect balance between sculpture and utility object, a quality that has earned Frigerio's work international acclaim.
The conical lampshade in light-colored fabric diffuses a soft, enveloping light, ideal for creating a warm and elegant atmosphere in residential or formal settings. A collector's item that, in addition to its lighting function, enhances the space as a true work of art of twentieth-century Italian design.

Luciano Frigerio, born in Desio in 1928, left an indelible mark on the world of furniture design and production, inheriting a family tradition of fine cabinetmaking. His early education, which culminated in a diploma in accounting from the Collegio Pio XI, was enriched by his passion for furniture design and musical composition.
The socioeconomic context of Brianza in the 1960s offered entrepreneurial opportunities in the art of furniture, and Frigerio seized this potential. Frequenting renowned workshops and meeting prominent figures such as Gio Ponti and Franco Albini inspired the transformation of the family business into an internationally oriented enterprise. In 1973, Frigerio was awarded the title of Commander of the Italian Republic, in recognition of his dedication to fine cabinetmaking.
The defining moment of his career emerged with the realization of his dream: one-of-a-kind furniture. Frigerio, supported by a team of technicians, created "Sculptural Furniture in Solid Wood" and "Sculptural Beds in Cast Bronze," representing a unique alternative to the industrial production of the time. These one-of-a-kind pieces embody artisanal excellence and the fusion of exquisite materials, positioning themselves as works of art in the design world.
Collaborations with renowned Italian architects and designers, including Franco Albini, Sergio Asti, and Paolo Portoghesi, consolidated Frigerio's position in the design world. His belief that architects could design unique furniture for fine cabinetmaking guided the company's philosophy, characterized by the production of one-of-a-kind, numbered and signed pieces. In the 1970s and 1990s, the company expanded its presence by opening ten showrooms in Italy's major cities.
Recognition of his contributions to design culminated in the awarding of the title of Knight of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem in 1989. Frigerio's works adorn important art galleries in Italy and abroad, receiving awards at events such as the Salone Internazionale del Mobile Italiano and Abitare il Tempo.
Permanent exhibitions in Milan, including the Galleria del Sagrato and the "Art Gallery" on Via Montenapoleone, testify to Frigerio's constant and recognized presence at the heart of Milan's art scene. His legacy lives on through exclusive works, celebrating the intersection of functionality, aesthetics, and craftsmanship in the world of furniture and art. His legacy continues to influence contemporary design, remaining a benchmark for innovation and excellence in the field.
