This is a substantial late twentieth century Ducal pine wall mirror that has been carefully refinished to create a soft, elegant and highly versatile decorative piece. Originally produced in the 1990s by Ducal, a well regarded luxury pine furniture maker, the mirror benefits from solid timber construction and generous proportions that give it real presence on the wall.
The frame has been professionally prepared and refinished with two coats of undercoat followed by three coats of Farrow and Ball Wimborne White estate eggshell. Wimborne White is a gentle off white with the slightest warmth, created by a subtle yellow pigment that softens the tone without making it cream. It sits comfortably between pure white and traditional ivory, making it adaptable in both classic and contemporary interiors.
Once painted, the surface has been lightly wire woolled by hand to allow small areas of the original finish to show through. This technique softens the overall effect and prevents the piece from feeling flat or over painted. It creates depth and variation, giving the mirror a character that factory sprayed finishes simply cannot replicate. The decorative trellis detailing has been hand painted in artist’s acrylic gold and then gently distressed to remove shine and produce a mellow, time worn look rather than a bright metallic glare.
Because this is hand painted, the finish carries subtle brush strokes and individual nuances that give it authenticity and individuality. It is not machine perfect, and that is precisely the appeal. The combination of warm off white and muted gold makes it ideal for rooms that need light without starkness. It works beautifully above a fireplace as an overmantel mirror, in a bedroom above a dressing table, in a hallway to add depth and reflection, or in a dining room to bounce light back into the space.
Compared to many new mirrors, this piece offers solid pine construction, depth of frame and genuine layered finish rather than thin composite materials and uniform sprayed coatings. It has weight, scale and a finish that feels considered rather than mass produced. The slightly distressed effect gives it a relaxed, lived in aesthetic that pairs well with painted panelling, natural stone, wooden floors, linen upholstery or layered neutral palettes.

Overall condition is very good, with the refinished surface presenting cleanly while retaining its handcrafted character. There is a scratch to the top of the mirror, this only really notices on close inspection.

1. Free cancellations
Changed your mind before dispatch?
You can cancel any order before it's shipped for a full refund, including delivery.
To cancel an order, click Create cancellation on the order page.
Once an item has been dispatched, delivery costs are not refundable.
Bespoke, personalised or made-to-order pieces cannot be cancelled.
2. Returning an item
You have 14 days from delivery to request a return.
There are two return types:
A. The item isn't as described (free return)
If your piece arrives and it doesn't match the listing in any material way (incorrect description, undisclosed damage, inaccurate measurements, misleading photos), you are fully protected:
- Free return
- The seller or Vinterior arranges pickup
- Full refund, including outbound delivery costs once the seller receives the item
This applies to all purchases.
B. You changed your mind
UK-to-UK furniture deliveries:
To make UK furniture returns predictable and stress-free, we offer a simple flat return fee of £75.
- Applies to furniture delivered from a UK mainland seller to a mainland UK address. Excludes Northern Ireland, Channel Islands, Scottish Highlands & Islands, Isle of Wight and Isles of Scilly.
- Pickup arranged for you

All other items
Most smaller items are straightforward to return.
