About this item

Napoleon III period planter, with barely visible Blackened Wood structure since it is almost entirely covered with "Boulle" Marquetry of great quality and finesse. It is constituted by definition of scales of Red turtles and chiseled brass, forming Arabesques, Rinceaux and Volutes.
This piece of furniture offers a bare compartment, 16 cm deep, bordered by an openwork gallery. Initially planned to receive a plant or a rosebush - in a Zinc tank now missing - we can choose to divert this space from its original function. The curved frame of this top is trimmed in each corner with a Bronze with floral patterns and is bordered by a cut brass rod. These are similar ornaments that are found on the four sides of this Planter, as if to further enhance its many Red and Gold Marquetries.
Note the presence in the belt, in the center of the two longest sides, of two generous Mascarons in original Bronze. Identical to each other, they confirm the absence of distinction between a "front" and a "rear" on this Decorative piece of furniture.
The set rests on four legs with pronounced curves, embellished with period bronzes: Busts of Naked Children in the upper part, Clogs in the lower part, Fishnets joining them.
This Bright Planter in shimmering colors has been carefully restored and can now bring Chic and Prestige to its next home.
