About this item

Mahogany pendulum with wire suspension system, Empire period.
Its main part cut in the shape of a Lyre has a Bronze Dial with two hands with inscriptions in Roman numerals. It is richly worked: friezes of Shells and beaded around the perimeter, Decors of leaves in the center.
It is topped with a bronze ornament cut in Acanthes, Volutes and Fleurettes. On both sides of the instrument are integrated two fictitious pivots also cut. The lower part of the Lyre is generously embellished with Bronzes chiseled into a Crown of Roses and Rinceaux, at the heart of which we discover two heads of Lions. We can guess a pretty Butterfly Balancer through the five vertical rods representing the strings of the instrument.
It is suspended from a wire integrated into the bicentennial mechanism of this Clock.
The set rests on a rectangular mahogany base plated, molded and embellished with a large bronze belt shaped in Foliage. This base is itself camped on four circular and flat legs in Bronze.
Note that the dial of this pendulum is stamped with the cabinetmaker "Pigneret", and that the underside of the base also has a signature. This Clock is supplied with its key which, once inserted into the holes in the Dial, will allow the mechanism to be wound up.
