Description
An unusually shaped and very appealing 1960s kitchen table by Guildform, from Guildford, retaining its original Formica top and supported on a solid, well constructed wooden base. This is a genuinely characterful piece of mid century utility furniture, practical, robust, and visually engaging without feeling over restored.
The table sits on four sturdy legs which are bolted on, giving it excellent stability. The wooden base has recently been wire woolled back, as the original finish had become flaky, and then treated with two coats of Danish oil. This has left the wood with a warm, golden patina that brings out the grain nicely and sits comfortably alongside the cooler tones of the Formica top. It feels honest and well balanced rather than shiny or overly polished.
The Formica surface itself is particularly pleasing. It is a closely speckled white and beige, very typical of the period and easy to live with, practical for everyday use and forgiving in a busy kitchen or dining space. One of the leaves is slightly creamier in tone than the others, which is exactly what you would expect from a table that has lived a working life, with one flap used far less than the rest. There are surface marks across the top, which have been photographed as clearly as possible, though they can be difficult to capture in bright light. The surface is not perfect, but it has what can only really be described as age worn authenticity rather than damage. Only one teeny chip to the top surface to one inside corner.
The black Formica edge trim is intact and frames the top well. To the end of one of the leaves there is a small chip, shown in the photographs, which is far less obvious in real life than it sounds and does not detract from the overall appearance or usability.
There are metal support mechanisms beneath the leaves. These are very often seized, missing, or problematic on tables of this type, but here they function very well. The leaves lift and support properly. When viewed in silhouette, the left hand side does dip very slightly, though it still takes plenty of weight and remains perfectly usable. With a little adjustment, this could likely be corrected by someone inclined to do so.
Underneath the table you will find the original manufacturer’s motif, clearly marked Guildform, adding reassurance of quality and genuine period origin.
In terms of use, this table works beautifully as a kitchen table, breakfast table, or small dining table. It would also suit a studio, utility room, or creative space where you want something practical with real visual presence. Its mid century character makes it ideal for interiors that lean vintage, retro, or eclectic, but it also works well as a contrast piece in more modern settings.
Overall, this is a solid, attractive, and very usable 1960s table with real integrity. It has not been stripped of its history, and that is very much part of its charm.

1. Free cancellations
Changed your mind before dispatch?
You can cancel any order before it's shipped for a full refund, including delivery.
To cancel an order, click Create cancellation on the order page.
Once an item has been dispatched, delivery costs are not refundable.
Bespoke, personalised or made-to-order pieces cannot be cancelled.
2. Returning an item
You have 14 days from delivery to request a return.
There are two return types:
A. The item isn't as described (free return)
If your piece arrives and it doesn't match the listing in any material way (incorrect description, undisclosed damage, inaccurate measurements, misleading photos), you are fully protected:
- Free return
- The seller or Vinterior arranges pickup
- Full refund, including outbound delivery costs once the seller receives the item
This applies to all purchases.
B. You changed your mind
UK-to-UK furniture deliveries:
To make UK furniture returns predictable and stress-free, we offer a simple flat return fee of £75.
- Applies to furniture delivered from a UK mainland seller to a mainland UK address. Excludes Northern Ireland, Channel Islands, Scottish Highlands & Islands, Isle of Wight and Isles of Scilly.

We coordinate the return with either the seller's chosen courier or our trusted delivery partner.
All other items
Most smaller items are straightforward to return.
You can still return your item within 14 days.
- For smaller or parcel-sized items, you can choose to post the item back yourself using a tracked service, or the seller can suggest a preferred courier.
- For larger or more fragile pieces, the seller may recommend the safest return method.
- Return delivery costs vary depending on size and courier.

3. If your item arrives damaged
Damage on arrival is uncommon, especially for UK furniture deliveries.
But if something does go wrong, you're fully protected.

7. Refunds
Once the seller receives the piece back in the same condition it was sent, we'll issue your refund to your original payment method.
Once a refund is issued, it may take up to 5–10 working days for the funds to appear back on your original payment method, depending on your bank or card provider.
If the item is returned with new damage that wasn't present at delivery, the refund may be adjusted following review.
