Description
A very well preserved 1960s to 1970s kitchen or dining table and four chair set, and unusually so given how hard these pieces were typically worked. It is genuinely rare to find a complete set like this that has survived fifty to sixty years of everyday use in such sound and presentable condition.
The table is constructed from solid beech, including the legs and stretchers, a high quality hardwood chosen for its strength and durability. The legs are bolted on, making transport and positioning straightforward. One original wooden nut is missing and has been replaced, but this does not affect the stability or appearance of the table in use. The beech has a tough, golden finish that has aged very well, with a warm tone that works comfortably in both vintage and contemporary interiors.
The tabletop is finished in a brown wood grain effect Formica or melamine surface, edged with a contrasting beech surround that frames it neatly. The surface is remarkably well preserved for its age, with far fewer marks than you would normally expect. It feels clean and practical, and importantly does not have the heavily worn look that can make some vintage tables feel less appealing for everyday dining.
The four matching chairs are also made from beech and finished with a tough polyurethane coating that has clearly done its job. They are simple and functional in design, but very much in keeping with current tastes for mid century modern and retro interiors. All four chairs are sturdy and sit well, with no wobble or looseness.
Each chair has a removable seat pad upholstered in the original vinyl, a browny green tone with a subtle veined pattern. The cushioned vinyl is exceptionally well preserved, supple, and free from cracking or splits. The seats are held in place underneath with rotating wooden retainers. Two chairs retain all five original retainers, one is missing two, and another is missing one, but all seats remain secure and usable as they are. The pads could be easily recovered if desired, though the original coverings are a real part of the set’s character and period authenticity.

Overall condition across the set is very good. There are signs of age, including minor knocks and light surface marks, but nothing unexpected or disfiguring. The photographs form an important part of the description, and there are plenty of them, so please take time to look closely and satisfy yourself as to condition.
This set would work beautifully in a kitchen, dining room, breakfast room, or open plan living space. It is practical, comfortable, visually cohesive, and carries its age lightly. A genuinely honest and well cared for example of mid 20th century domestic furniture, ready to be used and enjoyed.

1. Free cancellations
Changed your mind before dispatch?
You can cancel any order before it's shipped for a full refund, including delivery.
To cancel an order, click Create cancellation on the order page.
Once an item has been dispatched, delivery costs are not refundable.
Bespoke, personalised or made-to-order pieces cannot be cancelled.
2. Returning an item
You have 14 days from delivery to request a return.
There are two return types:
A. The item isn't as described (free return)
If your piece arrives and it doesn't match the listing in any material way (incorrect description, undisclosed damage, inaccurate measurements, misleading photos), you are fully protected:
- Free return
- The seller or Vinterior arranges pickup
- Full refund, including outbound delivery costs once the seller receives the item
This applies to all purchases.
B. You changed your mind
UK-to-UK furniture deliveries:
To make UK furniture returns predictable and stress-free, we offer a simple flat return fee of £75.
- Applies to furniture delivered from a UK mainland seller to a mainland UK address. Excludes Northern Ireland, Channel Islands, Scottish Highlands & Islands, Isle of Wight and Isles of Scilly.
- Pickup arranged for you

We coordinate the return with either the seller's chosen courier or our trusted delivery partner.
All other items
Most smaller items are straightforward to return.
You can still return your item within 14 days.
- For smaller or parcel-sized items, you can choose to post the item back yourself using a tracked service, or the seller can suggest a preferred courier.
- For larger or more fragile pieces, the seller may recommend the safest return method.
- Return delivery costs vary depending on size and courier.
The seller will confirm the best option based on the item.
3. If your item arrives damaged
Damage on arrival is uncommon, especially for UK furniture deliveries.
But if something does go wrong, you're fully protected.

7. Refunds
Once the seller receives the piece back in the same condition it was sent, we'll issue your refund to your original payment method.
Once a refund is issued, it may take up to 5–10 working days for the funds to appear back on your original payment method, depending on your bank or card provider.
If the item is returned with new damage that wasn't present at delivery, the refund may be adjusted following review.
