Description
A rare and complete three-piece bedroom set from the Uniflex K Range, designed by Peter Hayward and introduced in 1964 as Uniflex's premium offering. This set comprises a six-drawer dressing table with original triptych mirrors, a seven-drawer chest of drawers, and the matching upholstered stool, all in walnut with the distinctive cantilever sled base that defines the K Range aesthetic.
The Designer
Peter Hayward is frequently misattributed on K Range pieces, with many sellers wrongly crediting Gunther Hoffstead, Uniflex's better-known collaborator. Hoffstead designed the more commonly seen Q Range. The K Range was Hayward's creation, documented in a 1964 edition of trade publication The Cabinet Maker, where Uniflex explicitly credited him as designer. Hayward had designed Uniflex's late 1950s ranges and remained an independent designer alongside Hoffstead throughout this period.
Original Purchase Receipt
This set is accompanied by its original purchase receipt from Finches of Forest Hill Ltd., Perry Vale, Forest Hill, London SE23, dated 24th September 1965. The receipt confirms the original order for the dressing table (KD3), chest of drawers (KC1), wardrobes (KB3) and glass top in Walnut Colour. Original documentation of this kind with a piece of this age is exceptionally rare and confirms both the authenticity and the precise date of purchase.
The Set
The dressing table features six drawers arranged in pairs across its generous width, with the signature oval recessed handles found throughout the K Range. The original triptych mirror arrangement, one large central mirror flanked by two adjustable companion mirrors in matching walnut frames with original silvering, is intact and in excellent condition. Original silvering of this quality on a piece of this age is genuinely uncommon.
The seven-drawer chest of drawers is a particularly striking piece, tall and architectural, with the same cantilever sled base and oval handle detailing. The walnut grain on the top is exceptional, with dramatic figuring that speaks to the quality of timber Uniflex specified for this premium range.
The matching stool upholstery is in period-appropriate olive fabric and is in excellent condition.
Condition
Both pieces have been sympathetically restored by a knowledgeable mid-century enthusiast using period-appropriate materials and techniques. The finish has been carefully stripped back, colour-matched, and finished with a natural hard wax oil and beeswax polish. The walnut has been brought back to a rich, even satin finish that honours the piece's original character. All drawers run smoothly on waxed runners.
There are two small sympathetic veneer repairs to the lower edge of one side panel of the dressing table. These are at floor level and not visible when the piece is in situ.
The set presents beautifully, and the restoration has been carried out with the collector market in mind, sympathetic rather than over-restored.

1. Free cancellations
Changed your mind before dispatch?
You can cancel any order before it's shipped for a full refund, including delivery.
To cancel an order, click Create cancellation on the order page.
Once an item has been dispatched, delivery costs are not refundable.
Bespoke, personalised or made-to-order pieces cannot be cancelled.
2. Returning an item
You have 14 days from delivery to request a return.
There are two return types:
A. The item isn't as described (free return)
If your piece arrives and it doesn't match the listing in any material way (incorrect description, undisclosed damage, inaccurate measurements, misleading photos), you are fully protected:
- Free return
- The seller or Vinterior arranges pickup
- Full refund, including outbound delivery costs once the seller receives the item
This applies to all purchases.
B. You changed your mind
UK-to-UK furniture deliveries:
To make UK furniture returns predictable and stress-free, we offer a simple flat return fee of £75.
- Applies to furniture delivered from a UK mainland seller to a mainland UK address. Excludes Northern Ireland, Channel Islands, Scottish Highlands & Islands, Isle of Wight and Isles of Scilly.

All other items
Most smaller items are straightforward to return.
You can still return your item within 14 days.

- For larger or more fragile pieces, the seller may recommend the safest return method.
- Return delivery costs vary depending on size and courier.

3. If your item arrives damaged
Damage on arrival is uncommon, especially for UK furniture deliveries.
But if something does go wrong, you're fully protected.

If the item is returned with new damage that wasn't present at delivery, the refund may be adjusted following review.
