Mid 20th Century Double Bookcase
Designed and manufactured by Omann Jun Møbelfabrik
(Original paper label in on the reverse)
Part of the Classic range
Made in Denmark
Features 12 shelves - eight of which are adjustable, leaving the central and bottom shelves fixed
The bookcase is made from mahogany veneer and solid wood. The wood tone is warm and dark with typical straight mahogany grain patterns.
The finish is likely lacquer or varnish with a satin/gloss finish.
About Omann Jun:
Omann Jun. Møbelfabrik was founded by Andreas Omann. He was the youngest of six children. His father Niels Nielsen was the owner of Ølholm Møbelfabrik which was founded in 1919. In 1933 Andreas founded Omann Jun’s Møbelfabrik next door to Ølholm Møbelfabrik. Since he was the junior of Ølholm Møbelfabrik he used this name in the name of Omann Jun’s Møbelfabrik.
He started up the production of beds and dining tables. In the 1950s, 60s and 70s the company produced desks and sideboards in teak, oak and rosewood to a very high quality and sold worldwide in the finest shops.
When Niels Nielsen passed away his son Sigfred took over the company. In 1969 Omann Jun’s Møbelfabrik took over Ølholm Møbelfabrik together with the building and put them both under one roof.
Andreas’ two sons Gunni and Bjarne took over the company in 1979. Gunni took care of sales in US and Bjarne in Europe. They ran the company successfully together till Bjarne took over the shares of Gunni in 1990. Bjarne developed more exclusive furniture for offices. Most products from Omann Jun. were discontinued in the 90’s because of their huge success with the office line.
Ulrich Omann is third generation and took over the company in 2005 and has run it ever since. In 2013 the company moved to new modern location in Horsens, Denmark. Today the company also produces exclusive wine storage.
Things to consider, both Gunni Omann and Bjarne Omann worked in sales and in the production. Gunni mainly did sales in US and Bjarne in Europe. They both did the design of the furniture together with their father Andreas Omann. We say that the designer for this furniture range was Omann Jun.

For postage of small & medium items, we use Royalmail Special Delivery service, 24Tracked, 48Tracked or Parcel Force 48-hour service (depending on the size and weight of the item). Large & Extra Large items will be delivered using a third party courier service, this is usually a one-man, door to door service, please contact us prior to ordering if you have any special requirements (for example a two-man service) so that we can send a new quote for delivery. We aim to dispatch items between 1-14 days after purchase with deliveries usually taking place on weekdays (ETA and tracking updates from the driver), if you have a specific requirement regarding delivery time/date please contact us prior to purchase.
Please note, if your item is being delivered by courier and you are not in for the delivery, you will be charged for re-delivery.

You can also collect from our London showroom - Collections must take place during our usual opening hours which are Wednesdays 12.30pm-5pm and Thursday to Saturday 11am-5pm. We require you to give at least 24 hours notice before collection so that we can prepare your items. Please remember that if you are selecting “free collection” you should contact us within five business days to arrange the collection.
We wrap items in clear film for transport, please ensure that you have the appropriate padding/moving blankets to protect your goods during transport. We cannot accept any responsibility for damage caused during transportation if you choose to collect your items or arrange your own courier.

1. Free cancellations
Changed your mind before dispatch?
You can cancel any order before it's shipped for a full refund, including delivery.
To cancel an order, click Create cancellation on the order page.
Once an item has been dispatched, delivery costs are not refundable.
Bespoke, personalised or made-to-order pieces cannot be cancelled.
2. Returning an item
You have 14 days from delivery to request a return.
There are two return types:
A. The item isn't as described (free return)
If your piece arrives and it doesn't match the listing in any material way (incorrect description, undisclosed damage, inaccurate measurements, misleading photos), you are fully protected:
- Free return
- The seller or Vinterior arranges pickup
- Full refund, including outbound delivery costs once the seller receives the item
This applies to all purchases.
B. You changed your mind
UK-to-UK furniture deliveries:
To make UK furniture returns predictable and stress-free, we offer a simple flat return fee of £75.
- Applies to furniture delivered from a UK mainland seller to a mainland UK address. Excludes Northern Ireland, Channel Islands, Scottish Highlands & Islands, Isle of Wight and Isles of Scilly.
- Pickup arranged for you
- One clear fee, no surprises
We coordinate the return with either the seller's chosen courier or our trusted delivery partner.
All other items
Most smaller items are straightforward to return.
You can still return your item within 14 days.
- For smaller or parcel-sized items, you can choose to post the item back yourself using a tracked service, or the seller can suggest a preferred courier.
- For larger or more fragile pieces, the seller may recommend the safest return method.
- Return delivery costs vary depending on size and courier.
The seller will confirm the best option based on the item.
3. If your item arrives damaged
Damage on arrival is uncommon, especially for UK furniture deliveries.
But if something does go wrong, you're fully protected.
- Let us know as soon as possible (ideally within 72 hours of delivery) so we can resolve things quickly
- Share photos so we understand what happened
- We’ll help arrange a return and refund if needed
You’re always protected when something goes wrong in transit.
Your statutory rights apply for up to 30 days from delivery.
4. What can't be returned
Some items cannot be returned:
- Bespoke, personalised, or made-to-order pieces
- Items altered after delivery

6. What happens next
- We review your request, confirm the return and advise on next steps
- Pickup or return method is arranged
- The item is returned to the seller
- We issue your refund once the seller confirms the item's condition
Returns are completed smoothly once the pickup is arranged.
7. Refunds
Once the seller receives the piece back in the same condition it was sent, we'll issue your refund to your original payment method.
Once a refund is issued, it may take up to 5–10 working days for the funds to appear back on your original payment method, depending on your bank or card provider.
If the item is returned with new damage that wasn't present at delivery, the refund may be adjusted following review.
