About This Piece

Vintage Design
This is an early production with a so-called 5/2/5 screwing. The chairs used to be lacquered green and have been professionally and carefully restored. Due to the general scarcity of raw materials in the 1940s, Charles and Ray Eames were experimenting with plywood. The three-dimensional shaping of plywood was supposed to allow the material to adapt to the shape of the human body as well as possible. The DCW chair was one of the results of this research.

Restored. Light traces of use consistent with age. The (not original) green lacquer has been carefully removed. Not all screws are original.
