Product Details

Description

Swivel chairs/armchairs with die-cast aluminum frame and transparent blue polycarbonate seat. In good condition, one seat has a small crack that does not affect stability. Designer: Philippe Starck (Paris, January 18, 1949) is a French architect and designer. He began his career with the production of inflatable furniture in 1968 and subsequently received significant work assignments. In 1974, he settled in the United States and then returned to Paris two years later. He founded the company Starck Product (1979) to commercialize earlier creations. Particularly famous is the Juicy Salif citrus juicer (1991-Alessi), which has become a 'cult object'. He currently lives and works in Paris. He holds the position of professor at the Ecole Nationale des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. Works: The nightclubs 'La Main Bleue' in 1976 and 'Les Bains Douches' in 1978, the private apartments of the French President at the Elysee in 1982, Café Costes in 1984, the Theatronnel Restaurant in 1985, the Manin Restaurant in 1987, the hotels 'Royalton' in 1988 and 'Paramount' in 1990, the Groninger Museum in 1993, ENSAD in 1998, the Asakusa Brewery (Tokyo, Japan). For Kartell he designs the chair 'La Marie', 'Ero|S|', 'Victoria Ghost', 'Louis Ghost', 'Dr. NO and Dr. NA'. In 1994 he designed for Aprilia the Motò 6.5 2005 Gun Collection for the Italian furniture and lighting company FLOS. (n.1949) Brand/Manufacturer: Kartell is an Italian company founded in 1949 in Noviglio, in the province of Milan, which produces furniture and industrially designed items in refined plastic. The company was founded by Giulio Castelli, a chemical engineer who began his activity producing accessories for cars and household items in plastic. The brand's success was consolidated in the 1960s, a particularly positive period for Italian design. The international recognition came in 1972 with participation in an exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art in New York dedicated to Made in Italy furniture, and the pieces presented on that occasion, designed by Gae Aulenti, Ettore Sottsass, and Marco Zanuso, are still part of the museum's permanent collection. In the 1990s, a lasting collaboration began with several internationally renowned designers, including Antonio Citterio, Ron Arad, Vico Magistretti, Philippe Starck, Piero Lissoni, and many others. In 1999, Kartell also founded the eponymous museum, which collects and displays more than 1000 creations. Several Kartell products have been awarded international prizes, including the Compasso d'Oro, the prize awarded annually by ADI (Association for Industrial Design), considered the most important award worldwide in the sector. Kartell’s uniqueness lies in the original use of plastic in furniture, employing processing technologies traditionally used in other industrial sectors. Kartell products are entirely made in Italy, although the largest sales market is the United States. Among the most famous and successful products are the Maui seating series by Magistretti, the transparent chair made in only two pieces La Marie, the armchairs Eros, and the series of single-piece rotationally molded chairs 'Ghost' and Bubble by Starck, the Bookworm bookshelf by Ron Arad.

  • Free return
  • The seller or Vinterior arranges pickup
  • Full refund, including outbound delivery costs once the seller receives the item

This applies to all purchases.
