THE DIGEST
Vinterior x Farrow & Ball
Farrow & Ball brings colour with a point of view. Pre-owned furniture brings history. The interest lies in what happens when the two meet.
The Farrow & Ball x Vinterior collection focuses on pieces that have been reworked rather than replaced. Not to disguise their age, but to make better use of it. Each has been paired with a colour that shifts how it reads, sometimes subtly, sometimes not.
Pato Interiors, Chloe Kempster and Belton & Butler approach this from different angles, but the thinking is consistent. Start with something well made. Pay attention to proportion and detail. Then decide what needs to change, and what doesn’t.
A farmhouse piece can feel cleaner. An Art Deco table can feel lighter. A traditional form can move out of its usual setting without losing its footing.
It’s adjustment, not overhaul.
Chloe Kempster looked for something that already carried a sense of permanence and the tallboy she selected does exactly that. Solid, familiar, and then reworked in Beverly with a harlequin pattern that shifts it away from expectation without losing its structure.
“When I think of Farrow & Ball, I think of colour with heritage. I wanted a piece that matched that.”

For Belton & Butler, the starting point is more direct. Their kidney-shaped walnut table keeps its Art Deco identity, but the addition of colour introduces a different tone. It feels considered, not overdone.
Upcycling tends to be overcomplicated. In reality, it comes down to a few decisions made well, and a willingness to take your time.
Kat from Pato Interiors is clear on both.
“Prep and patience. It’s the part people want to skip, but it’s what makes the difference. And when it comes to painting, light coats always give a better result. If you rush it, you’ll only end up redoing it.”

That thinking carries through in the pieces themselves.
A wash basin finished in Selvedge blue feels easy, adaptable, the kind of colour that sits comfortably in most spaces. A toy box in Bamboozle takes a different approach, warmer, more direct, offset by a Wine Dark interior that adds depth without overcomplicating it.
Nothing forced. Just well judged decisions, carried through properly.
