A Creative’s Home in East London: Faye Meana’s Calm, Collected Space
Singer-songwriter Faye Meana opens the doors to her East London home. A calm, neutral backdrop brought to life with carefully placed pops of colour, vintage pieces and handmade details.
A singer-songwriter (and part of the Vinterior team), Faye's home reflects the same instinct that runs through her music - intuitive, expressive and personal. Tucked away on a quiet street in Hoxton, it strikes a rare balance: close enough to the city, yet softened by nearby green spaces and a strong sense of community.
When Faye first moved in five years ago, the flat looked completely different. She and her partner stripped it back, knocking through walls, reworking the layout to create a space that felt more open, more liveable. But the real transformation came later, through the layers she’s added over time.
Her approach to interiors is refreshingly unfussy. The base is calm and neutral - a blank canvas - allowing moments of colour and character to land with intention. A flash of red here, a tiled surface there, an unexpected object that sparks conversation.
Rather than following a set style, Faye builds her home instinctively by mixing vintage finds with DIY pieces and things she’s made herself. Her 1950s Danish sofa is a perfect example - slightly worn, endlessly comfortable and full of character. It anchors the living room, surrounded by books and personal finds.
There’s a clear thread running through the home, if something doesn’t exist, Faye will make it. Chairs are painted rather than replaced. Curtains are sewn to solve practical problems. Furniture is reworked, reupholstered, reimagined. It’s less about chasing a finished look and more about responding to the space as it changes.
“They don’t make sofas like this anymore, it’s my favourite thing”
Faye Meana
In her studio, where she spends most of her time, the same balance holds. Functional, but never sterile. Warm woods, layered textures and artwork chosen as much for feeling as for form. It’s a working space, but still unmistakably part of the home.
What makes Faye’s space compelling isn’t any single piece, it’s the way everything comes together. It’s relaxed but intentional, practical but full of personality.
