A luminous Mediterranean landscape by Catalan painter Francesc Galofré Surís, depicting the historic Hermitage of Santa Marina near Pratdip, in the province of Tarragona, Catalonia.
The composition is dominated by a group of monumental cypress trees rising vertically around the whitewashed rural architecture. Their dark green silhouettes create a powerful contrast with the pale stone walls, the warm sunlight crossing the foreground and the delicate autumn foliage spreading across the upper left of the painting.
Galofré Surís constructs the scene through a sophisticated balance of light, color and architectural rhythm. The winding path draws the viewer into the composition, while the succession of arches, trees and sunlit slopes gives the landscape considerable depth. Areas of dense, expressive brushwork alternate with lighter and more atmospheric passages, producing a vibrant surface without sacrificing clarity of structure.

About the Artist
Francesc Galofré Surís was a Catalan painter known primarily for his landscapes, portraits and figurative compositions. He was the son of the celebrated history painter Francesc Galofré Oller and received a solid academic education at Barcelona’s Escola de la Llotja, where he studied under Josep Mongrell.
His work combines the compositional discipline of academic painting with the freer handling and brighter palette associated with post-impressionism and modern Catalan landscape painting. Galofré Surís was particularly drawn to rural architecture, gardens, wooded paths and Mediterranean scenery, often exploring the contrast between brilliant sunlight and deep areas of shade.
He exhibited in Barcelona and participated in the artistic life of Catalonia throughout much of the twentieth century. His paintings were shown in prominent venues including Sala Parés, Sala Gaspar and La Pinacoteca. Today, his work is held in public and private collections and continues to attract collectors interested in Catalan modernism, Spanish landscape painting and Mediterranean art.

You can cancel any order before it's shipped for a full refund, including delivery.

Once an item has been dispatched, delivery costs are not refundable.

2. Returning an item
You have 14 days from delivery to request a return.
There are two return types:
A. The item isn't as described (free return)
If your piece arrives and it doesn't match the listing in any material way (incorrect description, undisclosed damage, inaccurate measurements, misleading photos), you are fully protected:
- Free return
- The seller or Vinterior arranges pickup
- Full refund, including outbound delivery costs once the seller receives the item

B. You changed your mind
UK-to-UK furniture deliveries:
To make UK furniture returns predictable and stress-free, we offer a simple flat return fee of £75.
