Origins of the retro style

First used in the early 1970s, the term "retro" was mainly used in fashion but was soon taken up to describe different types of furniture. The term retro applies to objects, which have a design reminiscent of a past fashion or which were manufactured in the past. Objects that are referred to as retro are generally those produced during the post-World War II period up until the end of the 1970s.
