About Anne JacobsenRenowned across the globe for his architecture and furniture designs, Anne Jacobsen, brought an unprecedented humane touch to Scandinavian design.

From taps and clocks to simple chairs, his distinctive iconic furniture designs are among his best and most famous works around the globe.

The true grandfather of modern Danish design was born in 1902 in Copenhagen, Denmark. Graduating from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and later designing the SAS Royal Hotel and the Danish National Bank, his breakthrough came in 1929 when he won the House of the Future contest. His architectural glass structure vision was futuristic for that time and introduced modern architecture to Danish society.

Turning his hand to furniture and inspired by the bent plywood designs of Charles and Ray Eames, Jacobsen and Fritz Hansen drove their names into design history with the release of the Ant chair and the 3107 series.

Capitaving Denmark with his work, Jacobsen produced eye-catching and functional avant-garde pieces; his inspirations were dedicated to modernistic design with clean and pure lines. The swan chair Arne Jacobsen and the Egg charmed us with their geometric, organic curves and feminine, sculptural shapes.

Later these Arne Jacobsen chairs would become two of the century's most iconic seats to have ever existed. He wanted people to look beautifully sitting down; the Egg enveloped its dweller while the Swan spread out like a blossoming flower, visually lifting the sitter.

Cleary a man before his time, he was a perfectionist known for his minimalist designs, which gained recognition at several prestigious awards.

Dedicating his time as a professor at the Royal Danish Academy for over 11 years, he influenced an entire generation of Danish architects. He'll always be remembered for his simple chair designs and influential contribution to modernism in Denmark and other Scandinavian countries involved in the modern movement era.

Thanks to Scandinavian designers and architects like Arne Jacobsen, modern movement with a humane touch will never be lost or forgotten.
