Inside Natasha Landers' Colourful East London Home
A celebration of colour, craft and community, Natasha Landers' East London home is a reflection of her design philosophy, where every object has a story and every space is made to be lived in.
Interior designer Natasha Landers welcomes us into her East London home, a space she’s shaped over more than twenty-five years into something deeply personal, creative and full of life. It’s a home that doesn’t follow rules so much as it tells stories, blending bold colour, meaningful objects and thoughtful design in a way that feels instinctive rather than prescribed.
The kitchen is a perfect example of that evolution. Once dark and rarely used, it’s now a bright, open space designed for living as much as cooking. A sunshine-yellow rubber floor brings instant warmth (even on grey days) while a sculptural light installation, loosely inspired by the London Underground map, adds a playful element overhead.
Throughout the home, there’s a quiet practicality behind the design. Oversized door knobs, actually repurposed coat hooks, make everyday use easier, while vintage pieces, like a well-travelled Tunisian rug and a decades-old bookcase, add depth and familiarity.

Art is at the centre of everything. Much of Natasha’s collection focuses on portraiture by Black artists, a conscious decision shaped by her own experience of not seeing herself represented growing up. Through her Lemon Seed Project, she also opens her home to showcase new artists, turning it into a space for community and creativity.
One piece, in particular, carries a powerful story. Found at a local charity auction supporting survivors of domestic violence, the artwork is layered with meaning, from its use of African print fabric to its reference to Congolese “sapeurs,” known for their expressive style. It’s exactly the kind of piece Landers is drawn to, visually striking, but also rich in narrative.
