What is ceramic sculpture?
Ceramic sculpture is an art form that uses clay to create a three-dimensional form free-standing form - a hand ceramic sculpture, statue, model, or bust - before firing it in a kiln, decorating, and glazing. Hardening the clay forms the ceramic element and makes the sculpture strong and durable. Sometimes the clay is mixed with plastic, metal, sand, or other materials before being placed in a kiln to make the ceramic even more long-lasting. A variety of glazing techniques can be used to create different aesthetic effects.
How do you decorate a garden with sculpture?
Once fired and glazed, ceramic sculpture can be a wonderful addition to any outside space. Ceramic garden art sculptures are often large statement pieces such as chunky ceramic head sculptures that help zone the outdoor area or novelty sculpture like vintage gnomes, ceramic bird baths, and even gazebo-syle structures. As with any decorating, choose a colour palette and style, and stick to it to create a cohesive space throughout your garden.
