Beautiful antique Dutch Delft chinaware on Vinterior
For lovers of the timeless combination white and blue, Delft pottery will tick all the right boxes. World renowned as a school of pottery, Delft first originated in the Netherlands in the 17th century. The city Delft, unsurprisingly, was the major centre of production with its community of artisans most active between the years 1640-1740. The trend of simple yet beautiful blue and white ceramics also made its way over to England, whose artisanal community imitated the Dutch palette when producing ceramics in the 18th-19th centuries.
Traditional motifs do not only belong within the homes of the high and mighty. Many people with a design-led eye are enjoying the return of classical pattern and colour to their homes. This exquisite Delft pottery abounds in countrified charm and nostalgia. Whether a pretty plate hung on the kitchen wall or a blue and white vase brimming with boughs of red berries, a Delft find will be enjoyed for decades for come.
