Dalbergia nigra is the sweetly scented species of rosewood most appreciated in Western regions originating in Brazil. Another member of the family tree that we commonly see is dalbergia latifolia, a classic rosewood native to India. Rosewood plantations can be found all over the planet, in locations as diverse as Madagascar, Pakistan, Malaysia, Honduras and Guatemala.
