5 festive decorating tips from Alfred Bramsen

Meet illustrator and designer Alfred Bramsen, known for his love of colour and his curated interiors. He’s shared some tips for festive decorating with us, and chosen some playful gifts from the Vinterior collection for the colourful curator in your life.

Tip 1

I make handmade paper flowers that I hang all over the tree in different colours, alongside the baubles and decorations I’ve collected over the years! It really brings the tree to life in a super different way. You just have to be careful if you are lighting up your tree with candles.

Tip 2

I love to put colourful bowls or glasses around the house with sugared almonds or other fun Christmas candies in them – it immediately gives a warm spirit around the home (and perfect for when hosting)

Tip 3

I am a fan of setting up the house with vintage Christmas trinkets and figurines that I’ve collected or been passed down from my mother. Setting up these small heirlooms around the house is so special every year.

Tip 4

We’ve always got music going in the house throughout December on the turntable. Not always Christmas music but warm tunes to set us in the happy mood.

Tip 5

Don’t be afraid of mixing all the things together! Personally, I don’t love a colour-coordinated Christmas theme/tree etc. I think the more old/new vintage baubles and trinkets around the house the better! Nothing feels more Christmassy than the knitted star you made in 6th grade going up on the tree for the 12th year in a row.
