About this item

Antique central Anatolian Kilim prayer rug with "tulips" and lovely muted colors of peach, celadon, beige and ivory. An elegant piece that sings of the love and use by generations of devoted owners.
This rug is from Central Turkey and features a prayer arch, or "mihrab," design. The dramatic crown of the Mihab comes in the form of the stylized tulip; the quintessential Turkish flower. The light weight allowed the owner to easily carry the carpet for use for the 7 times of daily prayer. Today this carpet is appropriate for use on the wall, table or draped on a sofa as the open weave and age make it too delicate for heavy daily use on the floor.
We have added brass rings hand sewn to the top edge to allow for proper hanging. Wear consistent with age and use.
