The dining chair was originally designed by the Thonet company in 1904, as model number 8. This is a piece made by the Fischel company under the Thonet licence in Czechoslovakia around 1920.

The design is similar to the model No. 25 and No. 28 but this one is the most radical of them all. The seat and the circular support underneath is a typical Thonet design of the early 20th century. But the position of the legs in the front and at the back of the seat, together with very simple shaped backrest was a very adventurous design solution. It meant that actually three legs instead of the usual two supported the backrest. Thanks to ingenious design, the piece is a visually bold statement made up of only the most simple shaped wooden pieces.

The chair is in great vintage condition with a beautiful patina.
