This is a large impressive and profusely carved solid mahogany chimney piece in the Neo Gothic style of A. W. N Pugin, dating from the early 20th Century.

It has a contoured shelf over Puginesque foliate carved decoration with an open clover leaf foliate frieze below.

The chimney piece is supported on a closed multi clover leaf column with ancient Greek carved capitals above.

This is a superb hand carved highly decorative solid mahogany fire surround in timeless Neo Gothic style which will enhance any room in which it is placed.

In excellent condition having been beautifully restored in our workshops, please see photos for confirmation.

Augustus Welby Northmore Pugin

(1 March 1812 - 14 September 1852) was an English architect, designer, artist and critic, chiefly remembered for his pioneering role in the Gothic Revival style; his work culminated in the interior design of the Palace of Westminster. Pugin designed many churches in England, and some in Ireland and Australia. Pugin was the son of Auguste Pugin, and the father of E.W. and Peter Paul Pugin, who continued his architectural firm as Pugin & Pugin.
