I wonder when this addiction to pull down charts is going to stop… It is especially bad with the botanical ones. This one shows the "Schlüsselblume" - the beautiful primrose. What is so special about this one is that usually Jung Koch Quentell charts are always on black background. For this chart they chose a dark emerald green to enhance the bright yellow blossoms. This will be the conversation starter for your living room or your winter garden. For me personally, this piece of teaching material is just art per se.

The illustration was created by painter and biology professor Gottlieb von Koch at the turn of the century. Together with college director Dr. Friedrich Quentell and the teacher Heinrich Jung, he created a series of botanical and zoological charts that are still outstanding in the world of educational illustration due to their beauty and their love for details.

Up until 1930, Jung Koch Quentell charts were published by Fromann & Morian, a printing house in Darmstadt that existed from 1850-1930. After the war Hagemann, a publishing house of educational media, bought the rights to Jung Koch Quentell charts and started to publish them. This chart was printed in 1963.

The Chart is paper printed on linen, fixed on wooden dowels.
This is a real vintage print and no reproduction. The signs of age and use are proof of the authenticity of the vintage chart. You will find the signs mostly on the edges and the label. When there are no signs at all, it is a reproduction and not an original vintage item.
