Bishop and Stonier pottery, better known as Bisto. This is a lovely delicate blue and white demi-tasse coffee cup with gilded edge. The Bishop and Stonier works were based in Stafford Street, Hanley, Staffordshire from 1891 to 1939 but by the caduceus mark this could date was used as early as the 1880s when they where Power, Bishop and Stonier. The Bisto mark though was generally used by Bishop and Stonier on their pottery from 1891. Good condition, but the cup does have a little glaze defect on the base rim (a lump in the glaze but only noticeable by touch) and there's also a little indentation on the base rim of the saucer that looks like a manufacturing defect as well. The cup is 6cms high x 5.5 cms wide and the saucer is 11cms across. It weighs approx 180 grammes.
