About this item

Rare ceramic pivoting table lamp (c. 1950s) by Jacques Blin (1920 - 1995). This lamp has Blin's signature blue cloudy glaze featuring etchings of fanciful images of birds walking the grounds. The lamp pivots on the wrought-iron base. It is in excellent vintage condition and is highly collectible. Currently configured for UK usage but adaptable. Unsigned on the small rounded bottom, but Blin's work unequivocally.

Jacques Blin was an engineer by trade but with a love for the visual arts. His style is immediately recognisable. His signature glaze is characterised by a more or less misty appearance and by decoration deeply marked in the raw clay, a method he used throughout his career.
