A very typical teapot shape found in china. This piece will have been made in a rural town for everyday use. The thick glaze which has gathered in areas is a sign that it has been quickly dunked in a bucket of glaze rather then had the glaze carefully and thoughtfully applied, a sign that it was not made for sale or for show.
The vibrant green glaze is a result of the iron content in the soil reacting with the glaze. Although it’s a very impressive colour, it was a cheap and accessible way of glazing.

As the item is over 100 years old, it is for use as a decorative piece rather then practical.
