About this item

A vintage set of six (6) Wood's Ware 'Jasmine' cereal bowls or dishes with flat, ribbed rims, dating from the late 1940s / early 1950s. In good vintage condition with no chips or cracks and minimal crazing.

This is an example of British Utility ware as manufactured during the austerity years post World War 2 by the likes of Johnson Bros, Woods and Grindley. In the absence of decoration the post war utility ware is characterised by it's use of simple forms and and delicate pastel hues in a range of pretty 'ice-cream' colours, such as pale blues, pinks, greens and yellows. Often seen in Church halls, at village fetes and the WI, as seen in the 'Kings Speech' this once un-loved china is now highly collectable..........

With the colours sitting so nicely together, it's great fun to mix and match colours and designs to make up a really lovely harlequin set, this once unloved china is now both highly collectable and affordable!

Please see my other items of Utility China - Woods Ware, Johnson Bros, Meakin & Grindley etc....

Condition - no chips or cracks, some crazing and one bowl has some discolouration.

Diameter 6.5" (16.5cm)

If you need more, please convo me as I always have a stock of Wood's Ware, plates cups, saucers, bowls etc in both 'Beryl' (green) & 'Iris' (blue) & 'Jasmine' (yellow).
