About this item

A beautiful and substantial French stoneware vase by Lucine Brisdoux c1935. Fantastic detail and design with gold details and in original condition with no chips cracks or damage. Has some one firing inconsistency in one of the green triangles (see image), being a hand made piece. Signed and released, so acceptable natural variations, by the artist, who was a substantial figure in the field of Art Deco French ceramics.

Based out of Bonny in the Loiret, Lucien Brisdoux, the son of potter Achille Brisdoux, was taught by Raoul Lachenal in the 1920's. He want on to create sculptural vessels overglazed with random patterns of metallic glazes varying from silver through copper, to gold. This lasted for around ten years and he gave up the technique around 1940 as it was too costly.
