About this item

Vintage, mid-century flower vase created by renowned French ceramist, Jacques Blin (1920 - 1995), circa 1950 and purchased
from a private collection.

Known for his trademark method of etching or carving exotic birds, primitive animals, abstract objects and shapes into raw clay before
applying his signature misty, cloudy glaze, this piece reflects his unique style.

This particular vase, is known in French, as a "pique fleur" (flower holder.) It has Blin's trademark glaze, with beautiful, beige-greenish hues and subtle,
charcoal smudges on the body with hand-decorated, "sgraffito", ornamental decor on the upper area beneath the delicate holes, designed for
placement of flowers with thinner, more delicate stems.

Both collectable and desirable, this gorgeous, functional piece of artwork, will only compliment any given mid-century modern atmosphere,
and of course, any other environment, whether to decorate a shelf, display as a showcased piece or used as it was meant to be, with fresh or
dried flowers.

- The vase remains in excellent, original condition with no defects or restorations, but may show slight traces of use, commensurate with age.
- Signed 'J Blin' on the base.
