About this item

This is an antique, Victorian oak and iron lectern dating to the time of the Great Exhibition, c.1851.

Standing upon a magnificent cast iron base of leaf and foliate detail in deep relief, the tapered, barrel turned support exhibits fine quality, great colour and a desirable aged patina. The stem located through the iron base and held tightly by a large wooden nut.

The generously sized, lipped surface is in fixed position and at a useful height, ideal for use as a music stand or for a cook book, or recipe, in the kitchen maybe? The English oak displaying medullary rays through honey tones in the beautiful waxed finish to the surface.

A super piece of good quality, solid joints and very stable, delivered waxed, polished and ready for the home.
