About this item

An Art Deco beauty, designed and made from the 1930's to the 1950's. At a time when having a telephone was a rarity in a home these most elegant versions of the standard black 300 series were limited to the most wealthy households.

This particular phone dates from 1955 and is a 332F Model. It is in excellent vintage condition with only minor blemishes to it's smooth and sleek casing and one small corner chip (please see photo's). The line cord and handset cord have been replaced from the later plastic versions that had been fitted as part of previous service and repairs, the new ones are handmade in Britain from top quality materials.

The dial functions beautifully and the phone has the classic period ring of these phones which is subtly different from the later phones of the 1960's and 70's.

The original front drawer and internal protective cover is present too, ready for your own list of numbers.

Originally supplied by British Post Office Telephones and still bearing its original telephone label dial of "Achnasheen 254" underneath the more 'recent' label for an Inverness number (the Inverness label is the one on display on the dial as the original had to be (carefully) cut to access the dial screw in order to service it).

The vintage integrity of this device has been maintained with the minimum amount of changes being made to the original. It has been carefully cleaned internally and externally, the wiring and terminals re-configured and two modern electronics components ensure that it can function on a standard domestic telephone line which supports pulse dialling i.e. BT/Virgin, Plusnet etc.

Both beautiful and functional, an Art Deco period designed piece that will be a talking point to grace your home.

Remember that it is over 60 years old and from a previous era of electronics - pops and crackles in the earpiece and microphone are all part of the experience! If you would prefer, the microphone and speaker can be replaced for an additional cost but I would say that for an authentic sound and experience it is best left as is unless you wish to use it frequently and/or for long conversations.

The genuine Art Deco 1930's room thermometer as shown in photo 1 is not included but is also available - £55
