About this item

A very rare and wonderful collectors piece, a great addition to a Cabinet de Curiosité' and collectors of religious effects.

Translates to “Butterfly type lights for church”

I was mystified by the contents of this beautiful box and was not sure what they were but after some lengthy research it transpires that the box and its contents are original and intact.

Often used in churches.. they are little wicks, which are used to float on oil; hence the cute little tweezers to lower your wick into the oil.

I have included the information I sourced from the Museum of Objects in Mexico, incredibly they have one in their collection too but not with its contents..

I have included The Museum description of the box but not its contents as it was so comprehensive, as regards the information on its contents this was sourced from a French company who are still making these intriguing little objects - I have also include their description further down.
