About this item

This Crank Shaft  is a unique and rare item of aviation history. Originally from a genuine Battle of Britain Hurricane –  serial no. P3708 coded DT-E.  This Hawker Hurricane flew with 257 Sqn.
On 18th August 1940, after 4 successful missions, this plane was on its last flight of the day when it succumbed to enemy fire.  Luckily the pilot bailed out and escaped with minor injuries.  The aircraft crashed in the south of England taking heavy impact which is reflected in the buckled shape of the crank.  If you look at the close up photo you can clearly see the stress fractures to the metal.
The piece has been carefully and sympathetically restored  to ensure that the original beauty of the piece is retained.   See close up photos for part numbers, reference marks and inspection stamps.
This item forms an integral part of our V for Victory range and bears our bespoke hard enamel badge.  The base is hand crafted from English Oak.

This item will be  supplied with a fully documented history of the aircraft in a presentation folder..

Size – overall length on base 120cm x 23cm.  Height 36cm
