About this item

Originating from Qinghai, north western China, circa 1880, this once brightly coloured table was used in a local temple to hold offerings.

Its lacquered finish and paintings are original though the vibrant red on the front panel has worn over time, particularly towards the base, to reveal the wood below.

The paintings are common to this type of furniture, with the circular painting on the front depicting scrolling dragons with a central symbol for good fortune - these are now faded but can still be picked out quite easily.

Providing plenty of useful storage, with the inside of the table being accessible by doors at each end, as well as upper drawers.
