Funky early 1960s make-up table designed by Nigel Walters for Vanson

We had this amazing piece for over a year before finally finding the design in a 1964 book Furniture in Britain To-day by Dennis + Barbara Young . Vanson were at their peak in the late 1950s with Peter Hayward designing for them , but seem to have disappeared by about 1965 . This piece will not have sold in large numbers as it’s very space age and takes up a fair amount of space . It is low so you have to be quite agile to use it , so it was probably designed with Twiggy in mind !

If you are a make-up artist you’ll appreciate the swivelling mirrors which will give a perfect view of all sides .

It had a small amount of damage to the white laminate , so we’ve had a section replaced by a local specialist company . The wood has been cleaned , and the seat re-upholstered .
