About this item

Exquisite travertine dining table by Carlo Scarpa for Simon.

This 'Samo' model table is part of the 'Ultrarazionale' collection by Simon where it is showcased with use of marble base and a marble top instead of glass.

Beautiful architectural piece made of solid travertine with a thick oval glass top.

Being designed in the 1970s, this table looks very modern today and the use of travertine makes it a wonderful piece.

The two travertine bases can easily be put in the center, the glass is heavy enough to stay stable on top which will look even better.

Very good condition.

Background information on Carlo Scarpa:

Carlo Scarpa (1906-1978) is known as a virtuoso of light, a master of detail, and a connoisseur of materials. He is most well-known for his architectural projects, counting 58 in all. Most famous are the Castelvecchio Museum in Verona, the Olivetti showroom in Venice and the Brion Tomb in San Vito d’Altivole. His lush use of decorative aspects and crafted details are still unrivalled. His designs, including this table shows very clear traits of Scarpa’s aesthetic language that holds the middle between Japanese minimalism and organic forms of nature. The table, being designed in 1970, shows strong architectural features in the pillared base.
