The backbone of many an English office, this 2 drawer oak desk survives from the 1930s – stamped 1935 along with the makers mark LIBRACO and G.R topped with a crown – is a decent example of its type. The setup is relatively straightforward – 2 drawers with brass cupped handles, a bottle green top all sitting on 4 purposeful legs. This one would have possibly sat in a clerk’s office probably in a government building.
The condition is good for its age – the oak has a pleasing grain and colour. We have waxed the drawer runners and also given the frame a light beeswax. The legs are firm and the desk frame is wobble free. The original green top is in situ with no rips nevertheless with marks and historic dings. Smells fine too, alas no key for the lock.
These are getting harder to find in a good condition and this one is a fine workable example.
