About this item

An 18th century Austrian painted wooden tavern table, decorated with simple floral and leaf decorations to the top surface. A striking and unusual design that would grace any room well, while being low in height suggest that this table would lend itself particularly well to being used as a hall table or placed behind a sofa, a unique feature of a stretcher base table.
This table is raised on thick baluster turned ends united by a central stretcher, both of which have been painted in soft tones of green, red and gold, finished with unusual painted decoration, to both feet at either end with further slightly faded decoration to the central stretcher.
In extremely good condition for its age in comparison to other tables dating from the same period, featuring well executed and preserved paintwork throughout.
