About this item

A nice example of an early steamship trunk. A few labels show the past history of the travels. Labels include,The Baltic Shipping Company which dates from the 1960's and the lines typically stopped at Leningrad, Helsinki, Stockholm, Copenhagen, London and Le Havre. The Union-Castle Line which was a British shipping line that operated a fleet of passenger liners and cargo ships between Europe and Africa from 1900 to 1977 and the Royal Mail Lines dating from the 1930's. There are also some rail labels and early Cooks Travel labels.
It has obvious signs of wear and tear and we have tried to show this in the images. The lock is broken and there is no key but the two clasps are working so the case can be shut and carried without it opening up.
Good size for a display item, storage or even conversion to a table.
