About this item

This impressive pair of tiger chests are from the border of Tibet and Qinghai province in the far west of China. The colourful paintings of fierce looking tigers on the front are original and were intended to ward off intruders and evil spirits. As was traditional, the trunks each open through a removable half board in the top rather than with a hinged lid, and these can be secured through the simple brass clasp at the front. Great either side of a bed or side by side, the trunks are sold as a pair and the price shown is for the two. Price per set.
